2023 CCG GCBC Joint Worship Service held in Accra

   2023 CCG/GCBC Worship Service


The 2023 edition of the Christian council of Ghana and Ghana Bishops Conference Annual Joint Worship Service has taken place in Accra.

The event that took place at the St. James Catholic Church in Osu, Accra brought together leaders and members of the two Christian bodies to pray and seek the face of the Lord for christendom and the nation of Ghana.

Preaching on the theme, "The power of the Holy Spirit for our Christian living", Rev. Enoch Thompson, the Executive President of the Ghana Baptist Convention stressed on the importance of the Spirit of God in the lives of believers. He continued by saying that the Holy Spirit has a specific assignment in the life of every child of God, therefore, Christians ignoring the role and power of the Holy Spirit in their daily walk with Christ will be to their own disadvantage.

Prayers were said for the clergy, the two Christian bodies, the peace of the world, members of the body of Christ and the nation of Ghana as a whole.

In attendance were the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Cyril G.K Fayose, The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo, Bishop Justice K.A Lawson, Vice Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, Most Rev. Matthew Gyamfi, the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, Most Rev. Charles Palmer-Buckle, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast, Catholic Bishops, heads of Churches under the Christian Council of Ghana, Staff of CCG and GCBC and members of the two Christian bodies.

Human Rights and Gender


The Council believes that the right of citizens, especially women, children and the disabled should be protected by all. In view of that, it works to ensure that there is respect for fundamental human right which includes the right to live, the right to education, the right to free speech and the right to movement with the view of ensuring peace. Council’s work in the area of HIV/AIDS, advocacy for Food Security and Worse forms of Child trafficking reflect the right based approach to its activities.
