Methodist Church Elects Bishop Awotwe Pratt As Presiding Bishop
The Bishop of Accra Diocese, Rt. Rev Titus Awotwe Pratt has been elected as the new Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana. He is to take over from Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante, who will end his tenure of office on October 1, 2015. The new Presiding Bishop elect polled 198 votes as against 131 by his closest challenger, Very Rev Paul Boafo, chaplain at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The elections for the new leader of the Methodist Church Ghana was held on Saturday evening at the Wesley College of Education as part of activities of the church's conference currently underway in Kumasi.

confidence reposed in him by his colleagues with his election as the Presiding
Bishop.
He noted that, he will take
seriously the demand that comes with the position, and ensure that the fortunes
of the church improve. Meanwhile, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, on-behalf of the Chairman, Rt. Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey and the ExCo of the Council, has congratulated Bishop Awotwe Pratt on his election. He commended the Church for such a successful election process and assured Presiding Bishop Elect of the Council’s unflinching support to enable him serve the Methodist Church and Ghana excellently. Rev. Opuni-Frimpong also commended the out-going Presiding Bishop, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante for his tireless service to the Church and the Council as Presiding Bishop, and prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon him.
