Christian Council Thanks Dr. Bawumia For Supporting Ecumenical Convention
The Christian Council of Ghana, led by, Vice Chairman, Reverend Enoch Thompson, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to thank him for his immense support for the CCG’s first ever Ecumenical Convention which was held in November, 2025.
In his opening remarks, General Secretary of CCG, Reverend Dr. Cyril Fayose, expressed the Council’s deep gratitude for the support given by Dr. Bawumia towards the successful maiden Ecumenical Convention.
The General Secretary also used the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Bawumia for his re-election as Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party.
On his part, Dr. Bawumia thanked the CCG for giving him the opportunity to be part of the Ecumenical Convention and pledged his commitment to continue to support the CCG’s role in its crucial mission of providing a moral compass for nation-building and national development.
Dr. Bawumia also thanked CCG for contributing immensely to maintaining peaceful coexistence in Gold Coast and Ghana, since its formation in 1929 - 97 years ago.
The Christian Council took the opportunity, as is the norm, to pray for Ghana and for God’s guidance for all who are in leadership positions in the country.

The Council believes that the right of citizens, especially women, children and the disabled should be protected by all. In view of that, it works to ensure that there is respect for fundamental human right which includes the right to live, the right to education, the right to free speech and the right to movement with the view of ensuring peace. Council’s work in the area of HIV/AIDS, advocacy for Food Security and Worse forms of Child trafficking reflect the right based approach to its activities.
The Council connects with other Christian bodies such as the Ghana Pentecostal Council (GPC), National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACCC) and the Council of Independent Churches (CIC) to foster peace and advance social issues and Christianity.
